[but otherwise she'll leave it at that! she does think it's important for her to keep the pace up since it's dark and a little chilly - which is why it's not too long later when honoka gets a text]

[and when anya does arrive, it's with her hood up and a little bit out of breath... yes she ran... but it kept her warm so!]

[ Honoka's pestered friends to come over enough times that she can generally time tea being ready pretty well to people actually arriving. Anya manages to outpace her though, so it's still steeping when Honoka answers the door. She's not exactly in pajamas but she's very clearly in her "laying around the house doing nothing" clothes and she just sort of. throws her arms around Anya and flops against her like a huge drama queen. ]

You caaaaaaame, the tea's not ready, though. [ she heaves a big sigh like this is a TOTAL DISASTER. ] But if you wanna come to the front of the shop, Mom said we can pick out some stuff to take up and eat.

[Anya's giggling even as Honoka throws her arms around her, immediately hugging her back to reassure the other girl.]

Да. Yes please.

[And even when Honoka pulls away, if she ever does, Anya will automatically reach to hold onto her hand to let her know that she's still there. As they walk over, she's not going to really waste time though, direct as ever so Honoka doesn't have a chance to think she's whining:]

What is it that you wanted to say? I want to hear.

[ She makes a noise like a grumbly, whiny cat as she leads Anya into the front of the store. It's clear why they've been allowed free reign on the leftovers once Honoka shows her in -- there's not really a lot left aside from some dango and mochi that was almost certainly going to get thrown out anyway. ]

It's not. Normal stuff. That I can just talk about out here, especially if Mom and Dad are still around. It's like... you know. Retrospec stuff.

[ you know what she means, Anya. ]

[Oh - Retrospec stuff. Anya blinks in confusion at that, tilting her head. Then she giggles even as she goes to collect some of the mochi and dango, pressing a finger to her lips.]

Oh! I understand. Then we will get the snacks and go.

[and then dish their memory secrets]

Yeah. And the tea should be pretty much ready by the time we get up so-- uh, anyway, yeah, come on up.

[ Even for Honoka, it's pretty unusual for how badly her words are getting away from her. She might manage to be more articulate when she's less worried about being overheard though and with that in mind she grabs a whole tray of leftover dango and takes it with her as she starts leading Anya upstairs. It's going to be that kind of talk, apparently. ]

So, um-- has anything happened with you? Since, uh. Russian happened.

[ That's right. The entire Russian language happened. ]

[Oh....

Yup. That kind of talk. Anya blinks a little bit at the question before humming thoughtfully - a few things?]

Mm... I have learned new things? Things that make me want to try harder. Cуровый... The future looks like it might be ah - tough? But it just makes Anya more excited.

Russian happened... but everyone has been kind in trying to help me do better. So it will be better and better with time.

Mmmm.

[ She draws the little hum out like a piece of gum as she leads Anya upstairs. She feels... bad? Maybe a little guilty that she's about to go into a whine fest over all this when Anya has it so much harder. She can't imagine how scary it'd be if she woke up tomorrow not able to speak English and she can't imagine handling it with even half of Anya's grace and determination.

But she needs to talk to someone or she's just going to explode. Anya's the only one who seems like she'd get it.

Once they're actually in her room, Honoka plops her little mess of snacks down onto the table where she's already got their tea poured out. There's a scattering of cushions around and Honoka settles herself down on one before all but flopping down onto the table. ]

Here, grab a cushion -- oh, start eating too, if you want. I'll get some dango in a sec.

[ it must be serious if she's not immediately putting food in her face. ]

So... you know the Retrospec stuff? Have you had anything else weird happening? Apart from Russian. Like, have you remembered anything weird?

[Oh. It is serious. Anya blinks a little bit even as she takes a sat on a cushion, reaching for dango automatically because maybe her run woke up her appetite.... Though at the question, she nods.]

Да... Yes, I have. Mm... There are the hallucinomemories? I will see things that I did not expect. It began when I saw a backstage... with me and another girl. After the pageant, I saw the rest of the memory. We did a song and dance together and...

[With one hand, she lets her mind pull up the movements from the memory - a set of motions that are obviously choreographed, but come as easily as muscle memory.]

Запоминается! Now Anya knows the song and dance perfectly. But I did not know it at all before?

[ At that, Honoka perks up and starts nodding eagerly. ]

Yeah! I know exactly what you mean! When we were done with all the pageant stuff I remembered some performance too. I was on stage with two girls and we were singing and dancing some song. I've never heard it before and I haven't tried dancing it yet but I bet if I tried I could do it. I remember it.

[ she grabs some dango and crams a ball of it into her mouth, chewing almost angrily. she's frustrated more than anything. none of this makes any sense but... well, she's glad she and Anya are in the same boat at least. ]

Did you know the girl you were with? Like, did you recognize her or anything?

[Oh...

Well, Anya definitely doesn't feel frustration. But then again most things roll off her like water. So she's thoughtful even as she watches Honoka.]

Нет.... but the world is big. I think that I would like to meet her one day. I hope that she is out there. She is very sweet and kind. I want to talk about her. I want to say many things about her but I do not know enough.

Врожденный.... ["Innate" is a world she doesn't have - ] But the feeling is in my heart.

I know that she is a friend.

[ Honoka's shoulders visibly sag and she lets out a long sigh -- she's relieved. She was hoping against hope that Anya would at least understand what she's going to try and say but. She doesn't just understand, she gets it completely. ]

Exactly! And it's like... even though I've never seen them before, I know I could trust them with anything. No matter what, they'd be right with me. And it's dumb because... I don't even know who they are! Not their names, barely even their voices, nothing. I can't even say a hundred percent I'd be able to pick them out of a crowd if I saw them in the street or something.

But. I wanna meet them for real. 'cause it's like you said -- I know they're my friends. And I think if I feel this way about them, they've gotta be out there. It's just a case of finding them!

Then you will find them.

[Anya reaches out then, to place her hand over Honoka's and give her a smile. It's something that she gets too - and something that she's been warned about. Don't chase after dream people who don't exist. And maybe... these people might belong to dreams. But others have seen mirrors in their lives. If there's even a chance, she wants to believe.]

If you will search, you will find them. If they are out there, you will find them.

Your feelings are not dumb. They are... подавляющий? ["Overwhelming."] I think they feel very big. Like it will swallow you up.

But if what you want to do is look, then you should. Your other friends who are not in your dreams will cheer you on. I promise I will.

[ Man. Man. What did Honoka do to deserve a friend like Anya? She honestly wonders that sometimes. Now they're sat together and talking and she's being reminded that, funky dreams aside, she's got real people here in the real world who care enough to just come over at some stupid time of the evening to make her feel better.

She beams at Anya and then hastily scrunches up her face in an exaggerated grin -- because there's a telltale shine to her eyes she doesn't want Anya to see. ]

Yeah. Yeah! And I promise -- I promise, as soon as I find them both, I'll make sure to introduce you guys. So you;d better promise to introduce us to this girl you remember, too!

[Anya giggles at that and finds it very, very easy to agree to. She smiles and nods in agreement.]

I will. I do not know her well... but I think that she seemed like a very good person. Pretty. Talented. Strong. A lot to share with Honoka.

[Said so very, very fondly and directly.]

Then we will all get to sit and eat wagashi together. Компания. In good company.

I'll make sure I get us some of the really good stuff. No leftovers!

[ she takes a bite of her dango as if to underline this. only the best for her and Anya's weird dream friends.

Her expression goes a bit thoughtful as she chews and she furrows her brow. ]

Hey, do you think... do you think maybe they might remember us too, wherever they are?

[ . . . hm. Anya blinks at that, tilting her head. That's a little harder for her to answer for certain.]

Mmm... That is something that I hope for. But... even if they do not -

That is okay? Then we will start заново. Again with new memories.

New memories! I like the sound of that. Even if it's not the same as before, there's nothing stopping us from doing new fun stuff together.

It's just like meeting up with a friend again after a really long time, I guess! Like with Souji and Yu. It's like those dorks never went anywhere. I just sorta hope it's as easy when I run into those girls again.

Honoka knew Souji and Yu before they came to Recollé? [She can't help but giggle faintly.] Bоссоединяться.... I am sure that they were very happy to see you again.

The girls will feel the same. I know it.
